Automating the Process for Estimating Tunneling Induced Ground Stability and Settlement

An automatic process for estimating ground stability and settlement of circular tunnels is developed practitioners in this paper using finite difference method FLAC code. The numerical model aims to simulate the movement relaxation soil around shield lining annulus that occurs due overcutting grouting tunnel void by a boring machine. To achieve this, uses pressure technique progressively reduces support from initial at rest condition until point failure detected. At stage, number calculated, data are exported analysis. This conducted range geometry ratios which cover most practical cases cohesive soils. These numbers then compared rigorous upper lower bound solutions. Using data, trough width parameter ix also determined each case regression commonly used Gaussian equation. results study quite positive, with remaining within 5% solutions; compare well previous experimental observational results. proposed can be effectively efficiently design projects.
